VOWS
January 19-April 25
Workshop: Saturdays, February 27 and March 27, 10:00-4:00
Led by Roshi Eve Myonen Marko and Lily Myokan Perkins
The vows we make reflect our most basic values and deepest passions. In addition, they channel our energy in directions that we wish to pursue over the long run. In addition to that, they create energy, eliciting powerful responses from the universe to help us.
In this workshop we will look into the nature of vows, the direction they provide in our life, and the energy they create that carries us through distraction and challenges. We will examine vows that we might have taken unintentionally, such as those we unconsciously inherit from previous generations or those we’ve taken in reaction to karmic situations. We may wish to let go of them, and we may not.
We’ll distinguish between vows and the means to attain them, explore the difference between primary and secondary vows, and what is our own personal flavor of the vows we make. Finally, we’ll look into making vows and practices that support that path.
We will be working with text from the book, The Vow-Powered Life, by Jan Chozen Bays. The workshop consists of two Saturdays, February 27 and March 27, 10:00-4:00, with a break for lunch, and will be led by Roshi Eve and Lily Myokan Perkins.
